I read the books Abuela, Knock Knock My Dad’s Dream For Me, and Tacky the Penguin. Abuela offered me a mirror because I am latina and I could relate to all the places they went to. Knock Knock My Dad’s Dream for Me offered me a window to that person’s story. I could understand what that person was going through. Tacky the Penguin offered me a window to the penguin’s life. Tacky didn’t care what other people thought of her. Abuela let me see some representation of my culture. Knock Knock My Dad’s Dream For Me impacted me because it reminded me that parents have big dreams for their kids and they wish the best for them. Tacky the Penguin impacted me because it just reminded me to just be yourself. These books leave an impact because they talk about problems that aren’t talked about a lot. They are diverse books. “About WNDB.” We Need Diverse Books, 19 Nov. 2019, diversebooks.org/about-wndb/. Beaty, Daniel, and Bryan Collier. Knock Knock: My Dad's Dream for Me.
